Greetings!
It has been forever since I have been able to update my blog. I do go to school in addition to taking care of my home and working full time. I have been very busy this summer with everything. In addition I had a little dental emergency which took a lot of my energy.
I am terrified of having to have dental work, so much so that I avoid it whenever I can. About a month ago I had one of my molars disintegrate on me. This required immediate attention, but since I avoid dentists first I had to find one! Once I found the dentist he was kind enough to inform me that I needed a root canal. I almost fainted right there. Me the woman who avoids dentists like the plague had to have a root canal. I fear oral pain like most people fear death.
Dr. Baggott referred me to an excellent Endodontist who make the entire process painless. If anyone in the Milwaukee Area needs a root canal I can refer you to one of the best. All of this occurred two weeks before my annual trip to Colorado. I received a temporary cap and hoped the entire time that it wouldn't fall off.
My trip to Colorado was wonderful, but I have come to realize that I have a very different approach to children than the rest of the world. I believe that children should obey their parents, and parents should not negotiate with the little terrorists! Harsh, maybe but true. I spent the week avoiding the 4-year-old nephew when possible, because I could not stand his behaviour. When I was young, if my mother told me to stop doing something I did. This child did what he wanted and when misbehavior was pointed out, his mother excused it as "Oh, it was just an accident" or "He's just playing". From my vantage point his actions were deliberate, but who am I to say.
I made a decision to just avoid the child when he was misbehaving, that was the smartest and most peaceful solution to the issue. I am glad to be home and for those who are wondering, I have finished my dental journey, I have my permanent cap so after almost a month I will finally be able to chew gum again!
Until next time ~~~

Girl's Night Out
I have a group of friends that I met at work. Now I'm a strange person I have firm rules about socializing with co-workers. I switched positions about a year ago, and that in my mind made it possible to socialize with these women. Once a month or so we get together to meet for dinner, and the criteria we have for the restaurant is that the food must be good and the drinks better.
Last night we met at Chili's. I love their raspberry margaritas. We were there for over three hours laughing, talking and having a good time. While we were there a couple of old friends came in. One of the women I hadn't seen in over 12 years. In that amount of time I had ended the relationship with my previous partner. Of course she mentioned the old partner, and you know that moment when you just blank? Well I had one, I did quickly introduce her to my new partner, but woo whee it made me think.
I am happy with my life now, hectic as it is. You forget when you haven't seen someone for a while that the other person isn't frozen in time. How often has it happened when you see someone that you mention a moment from their past and find out their life is different? It would be fun if there was something you could hand to the ghost from your past to bring them up to speed to avoid those awkward moments, but then what would the fun be in that?

Floatsom on the Highway
You may have noticed I didn't blog yesterday. The reason for the lapse was a short overnight trip to Baraboo, WI. My beloved and I planned a little fun, good food, and rest. The trip was restful, and we did have good food and relaxed a bit.
The return trip today was scary for a brief moment. A man pulling a trailer full of roofing trash, lost part of his load as he was going down the freeway at 70 miles per hour. It looked like an explosion when it first started. Thankfully, we were far enough behind him we didn't get hit by flying debris. I was amazed that the man drove for almost a mile before he decided to see what was going on behind him.
The flying shingles were not bad, but we were worried with the metal flashing flying out on the freeway. For those of you who have ever seen roofing trash, there are lots of nails. Who wants to have a tire blow out at 70 miles an hour? Fortunately no one on behind this man was injured, and aside from the mile of interstate covered in trash, there were no problems the remainder of the way home.
The dog was so happy to see us he was singing when we got home. (Lest you think we left him home alone, he had a live in sitter). As far as he is concerned, now that we are home all is right in his world. With the thought of all being right with the world, I'm off to do homework.

Surprise
This morning I was wakened by the dog dancing on my ankles, he was upset by the cat who was yowling for her breakfast. She the little bugger thought 4:37 am was a good time for me to feed her. Of course I was not thrilled about the wake up call and proceeded to chase her around the house with a spray bottle. She is 14, and unlikely to change her ways but still, you'd think she'd let me sleep in the day before my birthday.
My beloved couldn't wait to present me with my birthday gifts, and once again she has outdone herself. I love the way she lights up when she has an opportunity to surprise me, and she does it often. I have a goal in mind to one day surprise the daylights out of her with a present she isn't expecting.
For the remaining time I have as a 39 year old, I am going to work on my accounting homework, and get a start on my marketing project. I am seriously behind the eight-ball on that one. I guess I can't get that excited about it since I hate marketing, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
With that thought I'm off to get my accounting homework done.

Age of Realization
I have reached the age of realization. This weekend I will turn 40. That doesn't seem particularly traumatic to me, but does cause some reflection. I am looking back over my life and viewing it from experience.
Have you ever had that moment when something just smacks you between the eyes? Well that is what I am going through right now. In many ways I have become even more comfortable in my skin. I know that then things I have experienced have made me a stronger person, to know my own worth as it is.
I have slowly been coming to the realization that I had cut all extra activities out of my life since 2002 when I restarted my schooling. It was not a conscious decision, it just happened. I would choose not to go out on the weekends because I had projects at home, or homework for school. My beloved has had 4 surgeries since then and that took a lot of our time and energy.
For all of the things that have happened to hold me close to home I don't know if I would or could give them up. They have helped shape me into the person I am today. I still have some dark spots I need to work on, but I like the person I am today.
One thing I know is this: There is no secret formula for 'happily ever after' it is a process. A process that must be worked in order to make it to that place where you are happy where you are at.
I guess you can say this is a rambling post on my upcoming birthday and how I am going to embrace the age of 40.

Introduction
Greetings old friends,
I know I haven't seen or spoken to many of you in a long time and for that I apologize. I have had many changes in the last 7 years and many of them have not been pleasant. I can tell you that I have gone back to school, I am currently working on getting my B.A. in Business with a minor in Economics.
My career has improved and I am learning many new and interesting things. For those of you I haven't talked to, know that I have missed you and will work on keeping in touch.
